New updates on OSHA legionellosis webpage
OSHA recently updated its webpage on legionellosis, a type of bacteria that causes a severe form of pneumonia through inhalation called Legionnaire’s disease. The bacteria are spread through moisture such as showers or air conditioning units, and the disease has a 10 percent death rate. The webpage provides quick facts, as well as guidance on identifying, preventing and managing preventing exposure to the bacteria. MORE

Study finds occupations with greatest risk for opioid overdose death
The Massachusetts Department of Health analyzed opioid-related deaths from 2011 to 2015. Their study found that employees in occupations more likely to experience a work-related injury, such as construction w orkers, had a higher rate of opioid-related death. Keeping employees safe on the job can reduce workplace injuries and prevent the need for a opioid prescription. MORE
